“If they sit closer to the front of the room they have to pay more rent because its a better neighborhood”
“The real question is what am I going to teach these kids that they will be using 5 years from now, and 10 years from now, so learning how to take responsibility, learning how to plan a budget, and learning how to save their money.”
This was a GREAT listen on NPR and even though I have no intentions on becoming a teacher I do want to read Rafe Esquith’s book because it sounds really interesting! I am a fan of thinking outside of the box and taking something normal and making it different. The children are definitely our future and unfortunately most times parents and teachers expect the other to teach students how to be productive members of society. If this doesn’t happen the results could mean the difference between success and failure.
